FREENOW, one of the UK’s leading taxi apps, is partnering with OVO, to support EV drivers with unique price deals in the market for EV charging installation and home and away EV charging.

Together, OVO and FREENOW are working to make EV charging more accessible and reward drivers for making the switch. This partnership will see OVO’s industry leading EV offerings available to more drivers, helping to support and progress the shared mission.

OVO’s Charge Anytime add on has enabled customers to save over £11 million since its launch in 2022. Charge Anytime enables EV drivers to charge their electric vehicle at the market-leading rate of 7p/kWh. Powered by Kaluza’s smart software, the add-on works by automatically optimising cars to charge when emissions and prices are low. EV drivers can access the discounted charging rate at any time of day or night, and drive for just £190 per year with Charge Anytime, making it one of the UK’s most competitive charging tariffs.

Currently, 70% of FREENOW’s taxi trips in the UK are done with zero-emission capable black cabs, and this percentage is expected to grow as more drivers switch to EV vehicles in the upcoming years.

FREENOW is committed to making cities more accessible and less congested by offering clean, diverse and accessible transport options for all. This collaboration with OVO supports this goal by facilitating drivers across the country to access EV charging when and where they need it most.

Nour Rasamni, Head of Operations at FREENOW UK, said: “Passengers and drivers are our number one priority at FREENOW. While we offer our passengers a wide range of EV taxi options, we also want to continue supporting drivers with the various costs associated with EV charging. This collaboration with OVO allows us to offer active drivers on the FREENOW app a great package that ensures they have access to the best rates for installing an EV charger, solar offering or charging their EV at home or while on the road.

This collaboration will continue to support drivers with EV transition in an ongoing effort to contribute to the sustainable development of our cities.”

OVO’s Director of EV, Alex Thwaites said: ‘'OVO is committed to accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and this partnership will help do just that by extending affordable charging to more people than ever before. This is good news for EV taxi drivers and will also progress our mission to help customers cut costs and carbon.”
